Delivery

Trees are lifted when dormant during the winter planting season, November through to March.

Outside of this time we take orders for the following winter.

Trees can either be collected from Pillars of Hercules Organic Farm (Falkland) or delivered.

I do local deliveries myself and further afield will be sent by courier. For the courier deliveries, trees will be packaged in carboard boxes with straw or shredded cardboard filler to protect the trees. The only plastic should be the polythene bag that stops the roots drying out. Orders of over 60 trees are often better sent by pallet.

Packaging and delivering trees is unfortunately a costly endeavour and the costs below are set to just cover my costs and no more.

Local Delivery

For most Fife postcodes I can offer a local delivery charge of £15 for any number of trees. This type of delivery requires less packaging and fewer miles.

Our trees are field-grown in open soil rather than containers — a method that produces stronger, more established root systems. They are carefully packaged to keep the roots moist and fresh during delivery or collection.

On arrival, your trees can remain in their packaging for 3–4 days, stored somewhere cool but frost-free.

If you're not ready to plant straight away, you can 'heel in' your trees to keep them in good condition:

  1. Dig a hole in well-drained soil, slightly larger than the root ball.
  2. Place the roots in the hole and cover them well with soil.
  3. Firm the soil down gently.

Keep the roots moist at all times — they must never be allowed to dry out.

Trees can be heeled in throughout the dormant season, but must be planted in their final position before the dormant season ends.
