Refund policy
Returns, Guarantee & Refunds Policy
At Fife Fruit Trees, we take pride in supplying healthy, high-quality bareroot trees. Because bareroot trees are living, seasonal products, our returns policy reflects their unique care requirements and planting windows.
Please read our policy below before placing an order.
1. Shipping Window & Delivery
-
We operate and dispatch orders strictly within the UK dormant season (mid-November to mid-March).
-
We only ship to valid addresses within the United Kingdom.
2. Cancellation & Returns (Statutory Right to Cancel)
Standard Cancellation Window
Under UK Consumer Contracts Regulations, you have the right to cancel and return your order within 14 days of receiving your items for a full refund or replacement.
Perishability Exception (Late Season Orders)
Bareroot trees must be planted during their dormant season (mid-November to mid-March) to survive.
-
Trees dispatched or received in early March become highly perishable as temperatures rise and the dormant season ends.
-
We cannot accept returns after mid-March, as any bareroot tree returned after this point will perish in transit or storage.
Return Conditions
To be eligible for a standard return within the permitted window:
-
The tree must be returned in the condition it was received, with roots kept moist and protected.
-
Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer unless the tree was damaged or faulty upon arrival.
3. Our Growing Guarantee (Until July 1st)
We want your fruit trees to thrive! We offer a Growing Guarantee valid until July 1st of the growing season immediately following your winter purchase.
If your tree fails to break dormancy or leaf out by July 1st, we will issue a replacement order or a full refund of the purchase price paid.
Terms of Guarantee
To qualify for a claim under our Growing Guarantee, the tree must have been planted correctly and provided with suitable conditions for growth, including:
-
Soil: Planted in suitable, well-draining soil appropriate for fruit trees.
-
Support: Properly staked and tied to protect young roots from wind rock.
-
Shelter: Planted in a location with adequate shelter from severe weather.
-
Irrigation: Adequately watered during dry spells throughout spring and early summer.
Please Note: Our guarantee does not cover trees that have failed due to neglect, severe frost or drought damage occurring after planting, pest/animal damage, or improper planting techniques.
4. Limitation of Liability
Our liability in all circumstances—whether due to transit damage, failure to grow, or non-delivery—is strictly limited to either a replacement of the original order or a full refund of the price paid for the tree(s). We accept no liability for secondary costs, such as planting labor, soil improvers, or lost crops.
