Nuts!

Hazelnuts

Cobnuts (Hazel) grow particularly well in Scotland. Varietal forms are selected for being 'prolific nutters' and will in due course produce an abundance that not even the hungriest squirrel could clear, so plenty of nuts for Christmas. They can even store until the following winter. Some of these varieties are partial self-fertile but all benefit from pollination from a different variety. All the below are compatible with each other.

Walnuts

Varietal (grafted) forms of Walnut can also be very productive in Scotland. I have selected varieties which are high yielding and bear fruit young and don't grow as large as the wild Juglans regia walnut. The varieties here come into leaf later in the spring than others, thereby the flowers avoid late frosts. Walnuts need pollination partners of a different; all the below are compatible with each other.
