A historic Scottish variety with striking, deep red skin and crisp flesh that is often tinged with pink. The legend goes that a hungry ploughman was scrumping apples at Megginch when he was apprehended by the gamekeeper and shot dead. The stolen apples were tossed on the midden by his distraught wife and from one of these pips sprang the bloodied looking apple we know today. It offers a sweet, gentle flavour. Harvested in September, it should be consumed fresh within 3 to 4 weeks.
